Check out these photos from ScoringSession.com of Steve Jablonsky’s recording session for his Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen score.  The session took place at the Sony Scoring Stage at Sony Pictures Studios with Nick-Glennie Smith conducting the Hollywood Studio Symphony.  According to the website, Jablonsky’s score was recorded in sections, with the strings earlier in the day, and the brass section later in the evening.  The percussion section was recorded earlier to allow Jablonsky create intricate rhythms to be mixed into the score.

With over 110-minutes of score, themes from the first Transformers film return, however new themes have been created which include, “The Fallen” and “Prime.”  Dan Goldwasser writes, “Though there were a few synth-only cues, for the most part the score contains the blend of orchestra, choir (recorded in London at Air Lyndhurst) and percussion that has been supplemented with electronics and even some rock aspects.”

The track “NEST” contains excerpts from the new song, “New Divide” by the rock band Linkin Park, which was written for the film. The band collaborated with Jablonsky to include their music into the score.

You can listen to Jablonsky’s score (along with the constant grinding and explosions from Autobots) in theaters on Wednesday, June 24th.  The score, released from Reprise Records, will be available on Tuesday, June 23rd.
